Riley Security is accepting applications for full time and part time Public Safety Dispatchers. We are currently providing 24/7 dispatch services for two police departments, and private security guards with more agencies / possibilities coming quickly! It is our goal to make a positive difference in public safety for the citizens and the agencies we dispatch for!
This position encompasses performing responsible technical work dispatching public safety equipment and personnel in response to emergency calls for service. Competitive applicants shall have equivalent of a high school education, including computer skills and basic typing. Experience in emergency services is a plus. These positions are open until filled. *** Minimum Required Qualifications
** Absolutely no exceptions! **
•High School Diploma or GED
•At least 19 years of age
•Able to legally work in the United States
•One (1) year (or more), customer service, and/or clerical experience to include considerable computer and telephone skills.
•MINIMUM 60 WPM
•Operate a multi line telephone system
•Operate 2 way radios
•Good Short Term Memory
•Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
•Valid driver’s license
•Ability to pass a thorough pre-employment screening/drug test and background check process. -ABSOLUTELY NO PREVIOUS ARRESTS!
•Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and quickly make good, informed decisions with little to no supervision
*** PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience as a dispatcher or telecommunicator with a public safety or emergency medical agency.
•APCO / Any Basic Public Safety Dispatch / Communications certificate
*** EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Operates police and security radios; receives request for police and security services or information by telephone; maintains radio contact with mobile police units; dispatches patrol personnel to investigate police incidents or requests for police service; processes and relays information to field units and supervisors in a timely and expedient manner through utilization of printed materials; receives reports from mobile units; receives police, private and public security calls both emergency and non emergency; receives
alarm calls and dispatches the proper unit in a timely manner due to time restrictions on responses; maintains an electronic log through entry into a computer-aided dispatch system of radio transmissions and records of occurrences during an assigned shift; operates a computer terminal to enter and receive information on property and persons to facilitate dissemination of correct public safety messages; operates dispatch computer equipment, 2-way radios, camera equipment, multi line phones and dispatches proper units; connects incoming calls to appropriate party/agency; provides routine police and security information, or takes other appropriate action; maintains contact with other law enforcement agencies; monitors television security camera system for private security clients and body camera and dash camera videos for law enforcement and security officers; ability to perform several functions at the same time, usually in a stressful emergency situation; ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language; performs related work as require.
PAID TIME OFF:
Full time employees only, earn PTO at the rate of
•Years 1-4 = 1.53 hrs to equal 40 hrs. = 1 week
•Years 5-8 = 3.07 hrs to equal 80hrs = 2 weeks
•Year 9+ = 4.61 hrs to equal 120hrs = 3 weeks
Overtime can be mandatory depending on certain situations. An hourly employee will be paid the rate of one-and-one-half times their regular hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week, unless you are working 12 hour rotations then overtime will only be paid if more than 80 hours are worked within the 2 week pay period.
6 paid holidays on which scheduled to work all hourly employees will be paid at a rate of one-and-one half times their regular hourly rate.
